European Health Data Space (EHDS)

We are only just starting to talk about it: European Health Data Space

Coming into force in March 2025, the European Health Data Space (EHDS) is set to be a major turning point in the European health environment.

 Expanding data

In Luxembourg, the volume of health data is exploding, driven by digitalisation and the increasing use of the Shared Care Record.

Lack of awareness

In 2025, only 11% of patients will understand digital health information.

Strategic lever

The reuse of health data could generate up to 50 billion euros per year in the EU.

Development of the national catalogue

The HDAB-LU project, launched in 2024, aims to structure Luxembourg's health data by facilitating access, reuse, and interoperability of the data.

A health without borders

The mobility of citizens, particularly cross-border workers in Luxembourg, makes the interoperability of health data essential. Ensuring the continuity of cross-border care is becoming a major challenge.

Regulatory complexity

The EHDS is part of an already highly regulated sector. Aligning existing laws with this new regulation is complex but necessary.
